DJ Modern Romance (A.K.A Modern) is an American from the West Coast and was born and raised in El Monte, California a suburb of Los Angeles. He discovered a love for music at a very young age; inspired by his brother in the early 80’s, he began on his forward path into his DJ career—world of dance music. He studied with those veterans in the industry such as DJ Vice, Enrie, David Delano, Richard Vission, Swedish Egil, Reza, Tony B, Irene, Hyphy Crunk, Bad Boy Bill, Richard F. and Michael Trance.

In the early 90’s he was already on the fast-track; head-lining with top name DJ’s from Club Vegas, Sound Factory Orange County, Purple Shield, to Love Festival Hawaii, Audiotistic, Sin City, and Electronic Music Festival. He created his own radio show on 107.1FM — “The Rage.” More recent, he has played several times on the PowerTools (Power 106) and GrooveRadio Internnational. Modern has dropped his sets at such venues as The Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, Vanguard, Shrine Auditorium, The Palace in Hollywood which is now known as Avalon, LA Sports Arena, and many warehouse and house parties back in the days. He is a truly an entrepreneur in the business. His deep-rooted experience in the night club scene provides him with the perspective he needs to be “in-tune” with what makes people move.

He makes it a point not to loose sight of the creative aspect involved behind the art and is always intent on playing to the crowds’ higher consciousness. His ambitious nature places him on the path of never ending self improvement. There’s always another level to be achieved—the art of music producing. The first track he made was a bootleg track called Cruel Summer.

Just hearing the track on the radio for the first time was the best feeling ever for him… Modern believes that music is not heard but rather it is felt with mind, body and soul. He is especially intrigued by the social, and emotional effect on music for the crowd.
